    Small group leaders are a vital part of the success of our small groups. Being a small group leader is a great opportunity to develop other people in their growing relationship with Jesus and experience Biblical community all while having fun.

    We expect all small group leaders to:

    • Pray for their groups.
    • Study and always be prepared, even if someone else will be facilitating the discussion.
    • Arrive early to ensure that everything is set-up if the meeting is held at a location other than the leader’s home.
    • Start on time.
    • Focus on building relationship and community with small group participants.
    • Help identify, grow and strengthen other leaders.

    Small group leadership requirements:

    • Completed FCC Membership Class at least 3 months prior to submitting the leadership assessment form.
    • Select curriculum for small group sessions.
    • Determine the location, meeting time and meeting frequency of the small groups meeting.
    • Maintain accurate group data such as attendance.

    In order to be considered for small group leadership, you must complete the Leadership Interest Form.  You will receive an email notification within 1 – 2 weeks letting you know if your request has been approved or if additional information is needed.

    If your request is approved, you will be required to attend our Small Groups Leadership Training before starting your small group assignment.

    Frequently Asked Questions for Small Groups Leadership

     

    How do I become a small group leader or co-leader? You may be considered for small group leadership by completing the Small Group Leadership Assesment Form. Once the application submitted it will be reviewed by the Small Group Team. Within 1 – 2 weeks you will receive a notification informing you whether or not you have been approved to lead a small group.

    What happens once I’m approved to lead or co-lead a small group? Once you are approved to lead or co-lead a small group, you will receive information on how you can register for small group leadership training. There are two training sessions for each semester. Two for our fall semester and two for the spring semester.  You only need to attend one leadership training. The trainings usually occur on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

    What happens if I’m not selected to lead or co-lead a small group? If you are not selected to lead a group, you will receive notification from the Small Groups Team.  The message will explain why you were not selected to lead/co-lead at this time and strongly encourage you to participate in a small group. It is our belief that as you learn and grow in your small group community, you will also begin to grow as a leader. As you develop, you will in time become eligible to lead/co-lead your own group.

    When do small groups start? There are two small group semesters each year. Our fall session runs from September – November. The spring semester is February – April.

    How many times should a small group meet during each semester? Groups should meet at least 6 – 8 times during a semester.  Groups can certainly meet more frequently, if they choose to do so.

    Do small groups leaders have to lead every semester? No.  If you only want to lead a small group for one semester that is fine. However, we do ask that if you start a group in any given semester that you lead that full semester. Additionally, please give your Hub leader ample notice to inform them that you will not be leading a small group the next semester.

    What is the time commitment for leading a small group? We have not established a set time commitment for small group leaders. That is totally up to the small group leader.  We trust that as a leader you will operate with a Spirit of Excellence. For example, study, be prepared, start your group sessions on time and meet with the group at least 6 – 8 times during the semester.

    Does the church provide curriculum for small groups? No. Selecting or developing curriculum and study guides for small groups is the responsibility of the group leader. Eventually, Faith Christian Center will provide a Leadership Resource page that will have some curriculum and/or Bible Study suggestions that leaders may choose from if they wish.

    What is the organizational structure of Faith Christian Center’s small groups? Our Senior Pastor is the head of all church ministries including small groups.  The Small Group Director has overarching responsibility for small groups and is a key support for Team Coordinators.  Team Coordinators also known as Hub Leaders oversee, support and manage the overall infrastructure of a small group hub. They are also the key support for Lead Team Members.  Lead Team Members work in tandem with Team Coordinators to support and manage small groups and all related activities, as well as provide support to Small Group Leaders. Small Group Leaders are the individuals who actually facilitate the small groups. They determine location and day and time of meetings, provide ongoing communication to small group members, manage attendance, etc.

    What are Small Group Hubs? They are the major categories of small groups offered at Faith Christian Center. For example, Marriage, Women, Men, Singles, Discipleship are all small group hubs. Under each of these hubs we may have sub-categories.  For instance, Women’s may have a Single Mom’s category.
